Those of you with a yen for cold war studies should head on over to Phil Gentry's blog for a post on this bit of old footage from Edward R. Murrow's See It Now broadcast. It shows a Republican congressman reciting a love poem to Joseph McCarthy, and McCarthy getting all choked up.
But all is not quite so straightforward as it seems . . .was Murrow gay-baiting here? Or exposing some essentially weird thing about Tailgunner Joe?
